Dr. Eva McCleary

Hello 3rd Graders and Families! I am Dr. McCleary and I am so excited to be starting my eighth year as a Discovery Trailblazer!

Originally, I am from Alexandria and moved to Ashburn nine years ago when my husband and I bought our first home. While I sometimes miss living closer to the city, I do love the life we are building here. We have a six year old daughter that is the center of our world, as well as two pit bulls - Brody(8) & Libby (2), whom we love and have spoiled rotten. In my spare time, I enjoy "Peloton-ing", doing anything outdoorsy, cooking, reading, and spending time with my family and friends

This will be my sixteenth year as a teacher! Before joining the Trailblazer Family, I worked in the private schools of Arlington Diocese for eight years. My journey to the classroom was far from conventional, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. I graduated from JMU (go Dukes!) in 2008 with a degree in kinesiology with the intention of working with college athletes. Through a series of fortunate events, I began teaching PE for pre-k to 8th grade students. I then fell in love with the classroom after substituting a couple of times. I decided to pursue my masters in elementary education through Western Governors University and graduated in 2012. I then taught 5th grade for four years before moving to Loudoun. Here at Discovery, I co-taught in 4th grade for two years and then spent another year in 5th grade. Last June, I defended my dissertation and have earned my doctorate of education in educational leadership through NCU. This will be my fifth year teaching 3rd grade and I am beyond excited!

One of my top goals as a teacher is to create a safe and nurturing environment where all of my students feel welcome. I enjoy spending time getting to know each student and work hard to foster positive relationships with them. I believe that placing this as a priority, helps to set students up for a successful and fun school year. I am looking forward to partnering with you as we work together to help our students work through challenges and meet their potential. A key component to a successful team is frequent and open communication, please do not hesitate to email me at any time with any questions or concerns.

This is going to be a great year!
