Mrs. Powell is so excited to return to Discovery Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year. Although she won't begin the year with her class due to the arrival of her daughter, Olivia, she is thrilled to get to know her students when she returns in November. While she's spending time with her growing family, Mrs. Lindemeyer will be teaching the class. They are both excited to get to know the kids and work together to make this a fun year of learning in second grade.
Mrs. Powell grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York and went to college at SUNY Geneseo. After earning a degree in Elementary Education, she moved to the DC area to begin her teaching career. She taught for 13 years in DC Public Schools before moving to Virginia with her family 5 years ago.
Mrs. Powell lives in Ashburn with her husband, Brian, who teaches fourth grade at Buffalo Trail Elementary. They have three children, Charlotte (5), Noah (3) and Olivia (born in August). They also have a yellow lab, Zooey. In her free time Mrs. Powell enjoys being outdoors, doing puzzles, spending time with her family, and watching and playing sports. The Powells are all big Caps (Stanley Cup Champions!) and Nats fans, but Mrs. Powell still roots for her New York Yankees. :)
