Mrs. Susan Keller

Welcome to 8th grade English and Language Arts.

Although my first year teaching at Blue Ridge Middle School, I am entering my 9th year with Loudoun County Public Schools. With endorsements in both English and Family and Consumer Sciences, I have enjoyed teaching both content areas to LCPS middle school students.

My mom instilled in me a passion for reading at a very early age. My enjoyment for the craft of writing occurred in the 5th grade when my teacher Ms. Jackson applauded my Jack and the Beanstalk persuasive essay (Jack was asking for a refund for defective beans). I quickly learned that reading and writing would benefit my curious imagination and saw a future in using these skills.

Graduating with a degree in Jourmalism from Indiana University - I am quite a college basketball enthusiast - I became a journalist for a community newspaper in southern California. After moving to Raleigh, NC and having three children, our lives brought us to Loudoun County where I was a journalist for the Loudoun Times Mirror. As my children spent time in our county schools, I decided to go back to school to become a teacher and, well, here I am, hoping my passion and education will inspire reading and writing from your students.

I look forward to a great year with your students. I hope to help them grow in ways they never imagined they could.
