Mrs. Susan Keller

It is my pleasure and quite an honor to enter my fourth year as a member of the Pack at Trailside Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year!

Many students will recognize me from the halls of sixth grade, as I began my work at TMS as a sixth grade English/Language Arts teacher. I am really looking forward to spending time with so many familiar faces and helping them prepare for their future.

I love to learn, be active and love the challange and adventure of trying new things. This has led me down a path of having many hobbies. While my educational background is in Journalism with a passion for reading and writing, I have also spent many years culminating my passion for all things "home ec". I can often be found wearing clothes I have sewn, scarves and hats I have knit, and sharing delicious meals with family and friends. As a mature adult, I realize the need for an early start to practical life skills. I look forward to helping students learn organizational skills as well as budgeting their time and money. Lastly, with three children of my own, I am consistently reminded that teaching child development is pertinent for students to understand their personal growth cycle as well as their understanding of how they can assist other children they come in contact with, siblings, babysitting, etc.

My main goal is to give real life application to student's studies, to make their work more meaningful. In that process, we are going to learn, make mistakes (that's what seam rippers are for!), practice, collaborate, and have a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to this adventure with your teens.
