Mrs. Amy Spencer
This is my fifth year at Trailside Middle School and my thirteenth year teaching mathematics. I will be teaching Geometry and Algebra 1 classes this school year. In the past, I taught Math 6; Accelerated Math 6/7; Math 7; Algebra 1; Geometry; Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis; and Algebra 2 classes. I previously worked as an adjunct instructor of mathematics at Lord Fairfax Community College.
I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education – Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Boise State University.
I have a caring husband and two daughters, ages 8 years old and 2 year old, to keep me busy at home. When I have the opportunity, I enjoy baking, reading, walking, crafting, and crocheting. My family loves visiting amusement parks, playing board games, and competing at miniature golf. I live in Loudoun County now after 8 years in the Shenandoah Valley.
I hope to make this year enjoyable. I set my expectations very high for all students. My goal is to provide my students with the skills needed to succeed during school and in life. I want students to leave my class as a confident learner with problem solving and logical thinking skills that can be applied to their everyday lives. I am excited to meet my new students and anxious to start on a new journey this year.
