Ms. Lisa Handy

Welcome to Trailside 7th Grade students and families!!  I am so excited to be starting another amazing year with our 7th graders and can't wait to see everyone and hear how your summers were!!!

This will be my sixth year as a Timberwolf Pack member and my second time in 7th grade.  Prior to joining the Trailside family, I spent three years at Smart's Mill Middle School in Leesburg, Virginia, as well as worked at the Loudoun County Youth Shelter.  I love being a part of the Trailside Pack and am looking forward to what the year has to bring.    

I received my Master’s in Counseling from The George Washington University and my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Liberty University.  I love learning and I’m always looking for opportunities to continue my education.  I grew up in a military family which allowed me to travel and see much of the United States.  I was also very fortunate to grow up in a large blended family with 4 parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. I love coming from a big family and when the chance arises, I’m often traveling to visit them all.

When I'm not at school I can usually be found out hiking and kayaking in the area.  I am also a certified yoga instructor and am often in the studio perfecting my practice. Sports have always been a large part of my life and I love watching hockey and baseball.  While I have lived in Loudoun County for 24 years, I remain a huge New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox!!  GO BOSOX!!!   

Middle school is a pivotal time in students' lives and I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with your students during their time at TMS.  I hope you had a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks!!
