Mrs. Colette Bradley

Welcome to first grade!  I am so glad to have you in my class! I have been teaching for eight years. I have taught in classrooms from Pre-K up to third grade, but first grade is by far my favorite! I previously taught in Fairfax County and this will be my fifth year in first grade. I attended Old Dominion University where I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology and my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education.

I live in Leesburg with my husband and my two boys.  When I’m not in school I love spending time with my family and friends, cooking, crafting, taking pictures, and gardening.

First grade is such an exciting year! It is a year filled with tremendous growth for your child, both socially and academically. I am thrilled to get the opportunity to partner with you as your child embarks on this significant first-grade adventure! I can’t wait to meet you all!

Becoming a teacher has been a long-time dream of mine, and I am eager to work with the wonderful students at Discovery! I earned my teaching certification for English Language Learners (K-12) and Social Sciences (6-12) through the EducateVA Career Switcher Program.

I have been with Loudoun County Public Schools for 5 years. I have worked as a substitute teacher, a PALS (Phonological Awareness Literary Screening) tutor, and a teacher’s aide. Before that I was a journalist for 10 years – working for trade associations, publishers, and local governments. I also was a preschool teacher – in the 3s and 5s classrooms.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two children (Becker, 16, and Eve, 13) and my dog (Bert). We love to watch baseball and soccer, and being outdoors. I also enjoy reading, gardening, and running.
