Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Gavaghen

Welcome to our fourth grade class!!! I am so excited to share a new year with you learning about Virginia Studies, math, reading awsome books together, and expanding your writing skills during Writer's workshop.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I have two daughters, Kaitlyn (23) and Erica (20). Kaitlyn works for the Loudoun County court system, while Erica is still in college and attends Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia where she is beginning her junior year. Mr. Gavaghen and I are also the proud parents of two dogs, Chou and Pierre, and two cats, Rosti and Davos. We are also lucky to have two granddoggies, Lola (Kaitlyn's dog) and Ellie (Erica's dog).

I grew up in Coral Springs, Florida and still have relatives there.  I attended Auburn University and Florida Atlantic University where I earned my BS in Elementary Education. I also earned my Master's Degree in Special Education from George Mason University in 2012.  I began my teaching career in Broward County Florida teaching first grade.  I then taught fourth grade in Seminole County Florida for four years.  In 2006, I started teaching in Loudoun County at Dominion Trail Elementary in fifth grade for four years, Selden's Landing Elementary in fourth grade for four years, and I've been with the Discovery Family for the last three years teaching Special Education.

I am look forward to a fantastic fourth grade school year!
