Students must have a Loudoun County Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy Agreement form (AUP) signed by both the student and parent/guardian in order to participate in BYOT. These forms will be available in September.
Use of any device is always at the discretion of the classroom teacher or supervising adult. Additionally, by signing the AUP, students and parents agree to follow the policy. The following items will be enforced when students use personal devices at school:
    • The device may only be connected to the school's wireless network when online (not use a family's cellular connection -- no unfiltered 3G or 4G use).
    • Students will use the device for academic purposes only.
    • Camera use is allowed only when directed by a teacher, with permission of those being filmed.
    • Texting is not permitted.
    • LCPS and Banneker Elementary assume no responsibility for theft, loss, or damage of any device.
    • Students should not share personally identifying information online (e.g. full name, address, phone number).
    • Chargers should be left at home. Devices should be charged at home and be ready to use when brought to school.
    • Each device and accessory should be clearly labeled with the student's name.
    • Headphones or earbuds should be used with audio, and sound must be inaudible to others.
    • Devices may not be used in bathrooms or anywhere else that there is an expectation of privacy.
    • Charging of devices before the school day is the responsibility of the student -- devices should be fully charged upon arrival to school.
