• Mrs. DeBat has been teaching special education students for 26 years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. Her first three years of teaching was in the Huntsville City Schools in Huntsville, Alabama. She moved to Fairfax county in 1994 and was employed by Fairfax County Public Schools for 11 years. In 2002, she moved to Loudoun county and began teaching in the fall of 2005 at Freedom High School. She has taught a variety of self-contained classes in Biology, Health, Government/Economics, English 10, Earth Science, Active Physics, and Basic Skills. She team taught Biology for 10 years, self-contained Biology for 18 yrs., and team taught Environmental Explorations for 8 years. Her current schedule includes team classes in Biology and a self-contained Biology class.
     
    Mrs. DeBat enjoys the activities of reading, camping, hiking, conservation, photography, and birding. These experiences have afforded her unique opportunities to share her knowledge and love of nature and the sciences with her students.
