Mrs. Joanna Hale
Hello MCCS Community! I’m Mrs. Hale and this is my first year teaching music at MCCS. I am so excited to work with our scholars and help them learn how to become independent musicians!
I have over 20 years of experience teaching music and conducting choirs. This will be my 14th year in the classroom, having stepped away from education for the past eight years to care for my four boys. I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA with a degree in K-12 Choral/General Music Education. I taught music, choir and drama at Frederick County Middle School in Winchester, VA for eleven years before serving a two-year tenure as the choir director at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, VA.
I have adjudicated and conducted regional festivals, All-County Choral events, and All-District Choral events in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland and I had the honor of being named the Frederick County Middle School Teacher of the Year in both 2004 and 2010. I’m thrilled to share that I will also be conducting the 5th Grade All-County Chorus for LCPS in May 2023!
I grew up in the small town of Berlin, Pennsylvania (Somerset County) and still love to travel there to visit my family. I currently live in Leesburg with my husband and four small boys, two of whom attend MCCS. I love to walk, put together puzzles, serve on our Mom’s Connection worship team at church and work in my often-neglected flower beds. Fun fact: Daffodils are my favorite flower!
