Mrs. Katie Vernon

Hello MCCS Families! 

My name is Katie Vernon. I started teaching when I was 12 years old! I had so many babysitting jobs, I started "Saturday School" in my garage for the neighborhood children! 

When I’m not at school, I love reading, riding my bike, hiking, cooking, and working in my garden. I also love teaching! 

This is my 6th year in Loudoun County after 31 years in Fairfax County. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech with endorsements in Early Childhood and Reading. 

My goal as a Reading/Literacy Specialist is to generate enthusiasm for both reading and writing and to teach the skills necessary for our scholars to be successful readers for life! I’m looking forward to a great year at Middleburg Community Charter School!
