Professional Biography Rochford, Paul
Special EducationMr. Rochford is excited to begin this very adventurous school year back in his role of Transition Teacher. He is looking forward to continued collaboration with students and families as they addrees their Individual Education Plans and make plans for a successful transition from LCPS into the adult world of continued educatio, training and work.
This is Mr. Rochford's 24th year in Special Education. During his time as an educator he has spent all his years with LCPS except for an eight year period in Sarasota Florida.
Mr. Rochford began as a Special Educator at Park View HS and then became a Dean at Sterling Middle School. After five years with LCPS, he and his wife moved to sunny Florida where Mr. Rochford spent eight years as a Behavior Specialist, Special Education Liaison, High School Department Chair and finally as an Assistant Principal Intern at the middle and high school levels. When his daughter was born, the decision was made to return to the LCPS system for her education.Mr. Rochford returned to LCPS as one of the three charter Deans for the opening of J. Michael Lunsford MS. After a three year stint at JML, he was promoted to Special Education Coordinator for LCPS Department of Pupil Services. After one year away from the school setting, Mr. Rochford remembered that working more directly with students, parents and staff was his true passion. He returned to the schools as the Transition Teacher at BWHS. After enjoying that role for three years he was promoted to become the first ever BWHS Dean of Special Education which he held for two years before changing back to Transition Teacher.Mr. Rochford brings a wealth of experience dealing with parents and students from across varied cultures and socio-economic strata. He has a passion for helping all students succeed, specifically those with varying struggles disabilities. He is looking forward to using his experience and knowledge to assist BWHS special education students and their families with a clear plan to post K-12 education. .
