• Mrs. Kaur

    Keyboarding Teacher

     About Mrs. Kaur and Keyboarding...

Mrs. Kaur is excited to be a Sterling Pioneer.  This will be her fourth year at Sterling Middle School.  She will be teaching 6th grade keyboarding this upcoming school year 2018-19.

This year, Mrs. Kaur's students will be learning and practicing their keyboarding skills on an alphabetic keyboard with the help of computer programs such as 'Microtype' and 'Everfi'. The students will also join the sterling-middle-school-va.typingclub.com for extra practice.  Besides keyboarding, the students will also learn business education concepts as noted within the career and technical education (CTE) requirements.  This will include drafting business letters/memos on Microsoft Word, making pamphlets on Microsoft Access, entering numerical data on Microsoft Excel, and creating presentations on Microsoft Powerpoint.  The students will also learn about the components of a computer (hardware), computer specifications (software) and internet safety requirements.  Over the course of the semester, the students will also connect to the world through their 'One to the World' Project.  Since the computer program ‘Microtype’ cannot be accessed from home, class attendance is crucial. Mrs. Kaur is available for extra help every A-day from 2 pm to 3 pm and before and after school by appointment.

Mrs. Kaur expects high achievement outcomes for all her students through engaging lessons and a fun-filled and stimulating school year. She believes in unlocking every student's inner potential and helping them succeed. She is always there to provide support, help track progress, answer any questions, share those aha! moments and exchange any other information and feedback with parents.

Mrs. Kaur wishes her students the very best in the upcoming school year.
