Welcome to the 2016 - 2017 school year!  The SHMS PTO Board are very excited to begin the new school year, and have many great activities planned!  The PTO's mission is to promote open communication and understanding between parents and staff of Stone Hill MS. Our efforts serve to enhance and maximize the education of every child while aiding them in achieving their highest potential.  The PTO sponsors assistance to teachers in classroom setting, holds fund-raisers for supplemental educational materials and experiences, supports school and family social interaction, and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.  It is our belief that the team effort of a parent teacher organization offers the best possible learning environment for our children.
WHAT does the PTO do
The PTO provides financial and volunteer support to the students, families and staff of Stone Hill Middle School to aid in the education of the students and foster a strong sense of community within Stone Hill Middle School.

WHAT is the time commitment? 

The PTO membership meetings are held monthly, September through May. In addition, the PTO board meets a few times over the summer and occasionally throughout the year to plan activities. Board members will spend a couple of hours per month organizing events and planning meetings.
PRESIDENT:  The President shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, serve as the primary contact for the principal, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization, serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.
VICE PRESIDENT:  The Vice President shall assist the President and perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve. Additionally, the VP oversees and coordinates committees and volunteers to ensure events are on schedule, and updates the website. 

SECRETARY:  The Secretary shall keep all records of the organization; record the minutes of all meetings of the organization; handle correspondence of the organization and send meeting notices to the membership. The Secretary shall keep current copies of the bylaws, standing rules, membership roster and minute books.  

TREASURER:  The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds of the organization; keep insurance up to date; keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures; make disbursements as authorized by the Executive Board or the organization in accordance with the adopted budget; present a financial statement at every regular meeting of the organization or when requested by the Executive Board; make a full financial report at the annual meeting at which new officers are elected;  and submit the treasurer’s books together with all records to the Executive Board, no later than 30 days after the end of the academic year, for financial review.
