    Video Welcome from Mrs. Lazarevich

Laura Lazarevich is thrilled to begin her fifth year as choral director at Freedom High School!  Mrs. Lazarevich was most recently the choral director at Patriot High School in Prince William County for four years, where she taught over 300 students in six choirs.  During her time at Patriot, chorus students were invited to perform at JMU Choralfest, VCU Choral Classic, and a Washington Wizards game. Patriot choirs traveled to Baltimore, Disney, Nashville, and Williamsburg to perform.  Prior to Patriot High School, Mrs. Lazarevich taught at Woodson High School in Fairfax County for two years where she was the Assistant Choral Director.  During her time at Woodson she directed two choirs, and taught guitar and AP Music Theory. Additionally, Mrs. Lazarevich helped to revive the school's inactive Tri-M Music Honor Society, which at the time of her leaving had 60 student members.

Mrs. Lazarevich is an active member of the Virginia Music Educator's Association (VMEA) and the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA.)  She currently serves as the Southern Division ACDA Senior High School Repertoire and Resource Chair.

Mrs. Lazarevich has received several recognitions throughout her career.  In 2009, she was asked to participate in the Virginia Music Educator's Assocation Leadership Symposium at the VMEA State Conference. In 2012, she received the Colleen Kirk Memorial Award for excellence in the first three years of teaching to attend the ACDA Southern Division Conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Additionally, she was presented with the Outstanding Early Career Music Educator Alumni Award from James Madison University at the 2013 VMEA In-State Conference.

Mrs. Lazarevich completed her Bachelor of Music Education at James Madison University and her Masters of Music Education at Florida State University. She resides in Aldie with her husband, Pete, and two children, Carson and Claire.
