Mrs. Lyman

Hello, and welcome to second grade!  My name is Janie Lyman and I am looking forward to teaching second grade this year. This will be my 6th year at Round Hill.  I started my teaching career at LCPS in 2nd grade at Lincoln Elementary, then moved and continued teaching 2nd grade at Dominion Trail.  I taught kindergarten at Lowes Island. Then I stayed home with my 4 children for 7 years. I returned to the classroom when my youngest went to kindergarten.  I taught 4th grade then 1st grade for 6 years at a private school before returning to Loudoun County Public Schools and Round Hill Elementary.  I have been on the third grade team for the past 5 years. I am so excited about returning to second grade! This year will be my 20th year teaching!  Time flies when you're having fun! I am looking forward to meeting each one of you and getting to know you during our year together.

I graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, PreK-8 certified.  I am currently working on my Masters in Teaching.

I was born in upstate New York, then grew up in Loudoun County. I live in Berryville, Va with my husband Kevin, my four children (Natalie: a senior at The College of William & Mary; Maeve: a sophomore at Virginia Tech; Danny: a freshman at Emory & Henry; and Luke a junior at Clarke County High School.) and my two dogs Angus & Opal.

In my free time, I run (a lot), hike, read, cook and spend time with my family, friends and dogs. I also love watching my boys play football, basketball and baseball.

Please feel free to contact me at janie.lyman@lcps.org if you have any questions and find me on Twitter!  @MrsLyman
