Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Marlene Santos
I am thrilled to begin my seventh year at Trailside and my 20th year in education. I have been dedicated to supporting our middle school students as they grow and learn during these formative years. I believe the best way to do this is by building positive collaborative relationships with students staff and families. This will be the cornerstone to my approach this year as I step into my new role as the Special Education Administrator/Designee.
My journey to Middle School Education began at Radford University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science, focusing on the Middle School Learner. I continued my quest for learning at George Mason University where I earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Integrating Technology into Education) as well as a Masters of Education in Education Leadership.
The 20 years I have spent in Middle School Education include teaching Math, Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Additionally, I have been a Technology Resource Teacher and a Dean. All of these experiences helped me grow professionally and personally.
I live in Ashburn with my husband of 23 years, our three beautiful daughters, two dogs Harley and Buddy. We live an active life centered around our daughters’ activities. When I am not cheering on my girls at softball, soccer and dance, I am rooting for the amazing Pittsburgh Steelers!
I am looking forward to. Please know that I am happy to help you and your student with any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to contact me at 571-252-280 or e-mail me at email@example.com.
