Let’s Get Started with Art!

    Ms. Holly Armstrong

Welcome to Art at Dominion!  I am immensely excited to be returning to Dominion for the 2017/2018 year.  Contact me at any time if you have questions or need anything:  571-434-4400  holly.armstrong@lcps.org

What a boring world it would be without art, which is why encouraging artistic behavior in others is my passion. This is my 18th year teaching art in Loudoun County, and my third year at Dominion.  I will be teaching Art 1and Art 2. I greatly look forward to teaching many of last year’s Art 1 students again this year, and helping first time high school artists.

As for my own education, I graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Arts/Crafts/Ceramics.  I additionally fulfilled requirements for my teaching certification.  While teaching, I had the fortunate opportunity to complete VCU coursework for a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies in Art.  For that program my concentration was sculpture.  One of my favorite things to do now is jewelry making, and recently charcoal portrait drawing.

Besides art, being active is an important part of my life.  I love to run, bike, hike, and hang out outdoors whenever possible.  Backpacking in the mountains with my husband is one of my favorite activities. Now I will also get to be active by running around after Adam, our son who was born in April of 2016.

It will be a fantastic year in art at Dominion.  I greatly look forward to working with all of my art students this year.
