Mrs. Dickson is in her 16th year of teaching, 15th in Loudoun County. Prior to working in Loudoun County Mrs. Dickson taught in Prince Georges County in Maryland.
She graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY in 2004. Mrs. Dickson is certified to teach both general education and special education. She has had the unique opportunity to be a co-teacher, in an inclusion setting, and to work with a variety of learners in all elementary grade levels.
This is her sixth year teaching full day kindergarten, and her third year at Ken Culbert (she was at Discovery Elementary in Ashburn prior to KWC). She believes in establishing positive relationships with students and transparent, open and honest relationships with parents. She believes in inclusion and every child's ability to learn. Mrs. Dickson is an avid learner and educator. She hopes to foster every child's love for learning.
Mrs. Dickson has been married to her husband, Mike for 14 years. They are the proud parents of Gavin, a 5th grader and Conor a 2nd grader at Lovettsville Elementary.
Mrs. Mavrellis has been in the education field for several years. She worked as a special education teaching assistant at KWC last year, the year before as an autism teaching assisant at Evergreen Mill Elementary and at the Grafton school for the 4 years prior. She also taught Spainsh at St. Theresa's Catholic School in Ashburn and at the Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg. Mrs. Mavrellis enjoys working with children and has spent many years being an active supporter of the school system.
She has been married to her husband, Anastasios for almost 30 years and has two grown children, Yianni and Arianna.
Mrs. Dickson and Mrs. Mavrellis collaborate and work together to meet the needs of all of their students. They have a true love for teaching kindergarten and are an amazing team.
