Born and raised in Leesburg, Virginia, Mr. Zimmerman attended Loudoun County schools. Following graduation, he studied at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and received both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in psychology. He received his teaching certificate from George Mason University. His course work included a strong emphasis on child and developmental psychology. Mr. Zimmerman’s passion for working with youth in an academic setting was born during his years at James Madison and continued while serving as a frequent substitute teacher, long-term substitute teacher, and a special education teaching assistant at several schools in Loudoun County. He is very excited to be working as a cross-categorical special education teacher at Frederick Douglass Elementary School and is very eager for and appreciative of the chance to continue his work with children in a quality educational environment.
