I am excited to be starting year 4 of teaching at Trailside. Being able to introduce 7th and 8th graders to the world of learning a second (or third /fourth) language is one of the most fulfilling jobs I can imagine. Why? In the world of thousands of highly qualified applicants for colleges, admissions officers are looking more and more at the depth of language learning a student has achieved. 4 years is generally the minimum they are looking for. It thrills me to be albe to start students out on their journey of language learning! My desire is to have my students walk away from each and every block excited about learning German and desiring to continue with German at the High School level.
Having lived in Germany for 16 years, I am passionate about the language and culture and hope to pass that on to my students. During my time in Germany, I worked with children and youth for many years. Substituting for 10 years in Loudoun County reawakend my love for teaching, more specifically, my love for teaching middle school students. I have my BS in Accounting from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE). In August 2014, I completed the career-switcher program at Regent University and continued on to obtained my Masters in Education with a TESOL focus.
I am a Northern Virginia transplant via New Orleans, Tuscaloosa, and Hamburg, Germany. I love the culture and opportunities that the Northern Virginia Area presents. I am an avid sports fan and relax by watching sports, reading books, or getting together with friends.
