Mrs. Sarah Plain
Hello Everyone! :)
My name is Sarah Plain and this year I will be teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry at TMS! I am originally from the Northern Virginia area, growing up in Fairfax County, and then moving south for college. I graduated Longwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education. This will be my eigth year teaching, and my fifth year working in Loudoun County. Some of you might recognize me as Ms. Mayfield, as I got married in 2017! I spent the first three years of my teaching career in Louisa County, and then moved back to Northern Virginia where I began my journey as a Trailside Timberwolf! I have absolutely loved my time at Trailside, building strong connections with my students and the community; I am so excited to begin my fifth year!
This summer, I spent a lot of time traveling! I explored California with my best friends; driving the Pacific Coast Highway and ending our trip in Disney Land. My husband and I traveled to Europe where we visited Switzerland and Italy. We enjoyed soaking up the culture, and eating the best pasta we have ever had! (AND GELATO)! The rest of my summer consisted of spending quality time with our puppy, and doing many house projects. Outside of work, I love to shop, eat, craft just about anything (whether it is sewing, knitting, crochetting, scrapbooking, you name it!), and spend time with my friends, family, and puppy, Gus-Gus! As you enter my classroom, you will see that my dog loves math almost as much as I do! :)
I absolutely love my profession, and love coming to work each day. Math is a class many students feel afraid of, and it is my goal to make students feel empowered that they CAN do it! Understanding the world of mathematics allows students to make logical connections, be capable problem solvers, improve communication skills, and be more confident learners. It is my goal to ensure each student has walked out of my classroom with these traits. I am looking forward to an exciting year with my students, and cannot wait to see the amazing things they accomplish!
