Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Sarah Plain

Hello Everyone! :)

My name is Sarah Plain and this year I will be teaching Geometry at TMS! I am originally from the Northern Virginia area, growing up in Fairfax County, and then moving south for college. I graduated Longwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education. This will be my eleventh year teaching, and my eighth year working in Loudoun County.  I spent the first three years of my teaching career in Louisa County, and then moved back to Northern Virginia where I began my journey as a Trailside Timberwolf! I took time off in 2021 to be with my family and welcome our daughter, but I am excited to be welcomed back into the Trailside community for another year!

In my free time, I love cooking, shopping, crocheting, exploring new places, and spending time with my family. I have a son, Charlie, who is 3.5 and a daughter, Addy, who is 1.5 years old. I also love being with my Scottie dog, Gus-Gus. This summer I enjoyed every second at home with my kids. We visited Great Country Farms (almost weekly), checked out 10+ parks in the area, read lots of books, and swam in the pool. Charlie and I also learned how to grow our own plants in our garden, and both of us were impressed we had success!

I absolutely love my profession, and love coming to work each day. Math is a class many students feel afraid of, and it is my goal to make students feel empowered that they CAN do it! Understanding the world of mathematics allows students to make logical connections, be capable problem solvers, improve communication skills, and be more confident learners. It is my goal to ensure each student has walked out of my classroom with these traits. I am looking forward to an exciting year with my students, and cannot wait to see the amazing things they accomplish!
