    Riverside Rams! Amy Oldknow
    Social Science

This is my 20th year of teaching high school.  I have a M.Ed from George Mason University.  I have previously taught at Briar Woods and Heritage High Schools LoCo, San Pasqual HS in Escondido, CA, and Chantilly HS in Fairfax County.  I was so excited to be a founding member of the Ram Fam and am looking forward to a great year!

I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BA in Journalism.  Before entering the field of education, I worked in the television news business in DC as an Assistant Director for FOX 5's 10 O'Clock News and America's Most Wanted.  I was also a producer for CONUS Communications, Reuters Television, and NBC Newschannel covering Capitol Hill and the White House.

When not in school, I find a way to hit the beach, any beach.  In the summers, I can be found on the North Shore of Massachusetts or in Wrightsville Beach, NC surfing the waves with my family.  As a native Bostonian, I am an avid sports fan.  I am especially passionate about the Red Sox and Patriots.  When not in New England, my family can be found at Disney.  We are huge fans of the Mouse and especially of the Disney Cruise.

During the school year I keep busy as the varsity field hockey coach and a co-sponsor of the SCA planning pep rallies and Homecoming.  Go Rams!

Department Grading Policy Department Reassessment policy
Grades will be broken down into 2 categories: Summative (90%) – tests, essays, projects, quizzes, graded discussions and Formative (10%) – projects, quizzes, homework, classwork. No one assignment accounts for more than 15% of the overall grade.  Grades are updated regularly on Phoenix.
As per the Riverside test retake policy, any student who receives an 84% or lower on a test, may do a retake.  However, remediation MUST be completed before a reassessment can be done.  This remediation can only be done before school with me.  Retakes are done to ensure mastery of the information. They will be only be given on Monday and Tuesday mornings before school and once a week after school on the day of the late bus (TBD).  The remediation and retake assignments MUST be completed before the next summative assessment.
