Professional Biography Susan Matyuf
Learning SpecialistSusan Matyuf is in her thirteenth year teaching as a Learning Specialist, with a specialization in working with students on the Autism Spectrum. A founding member of the Ram Fam, Mrs. Matyuf taught eight years at Sterling Middle School establishing the autism program at that school.
A career switcher, Mrs. Matyuf first worked as an Audiologist/Aural Rehabilitation Therapist at Children's Hospital in San Diego, and in her own private practice. After many years home with her four children, Mrs. Matyuf decided to pursue a life-long dream of teaching, and completed her special education licensure program at the University of Virginia. She earned her Autism Certificate at George Mason University in 2012, and earned the rigorous and prestigious National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist in 2013. In the spring of 2015 she was recognized as an outstanding Special Educator by LCPS's Special Education Advisory Council. Mrs. Matyuf was honored to receive the Triple "I" Award at Riverside High School ("Innovate, Instruct, Impact"). She is endorsed in teaching Biology at the high school level.When not teaching, Mrs. Matyuf enjoys spending time with her family: one husband, four grown children, three son-in-laws, a new daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren (Kiprian, Zoya, and Colt), with one more on the way. On weekends she enjoys gardening, riding the motorcycle with her husband, playing with the grandchildren, and relaxing with a good book. She also loves raising monarch butterflies and often is found talking to her plants and "babies" in the garden.Mrs. Matyuf co-sponsors Ram Pals, a service club promoting friendship between students with exceptional needs and their peers. We meet the first Monday of the month in room L 613 at 8:30 to plan events.
