Professional Biography Joel Getis
MathMy name is Joel Getis and I am one of the Founding Faculty members at Riverside. This year, I will be teaching Algebra 2/Trig and Pre-Calculus. In addition, I am the head coach for the Riverside Ram's Varsity Swim Team, the sponsor of the Riverside Ultimate Frisbee Club, and a sponsor for the "Lambs to Rams" program.I am a “Career Switcher” and spent over 20 years in a variety of corporate jobs, including sales and marketing, technology management, and financial planning and analysis. In each of my roles, I used math skills and problem solving strategies on a daily basis.I am a native of the Washington, D.C. area and have lived in Loudoun County for over 20 years. I love sports and am an avid Washington football and baseball fan. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!) and my masters at George Mason University.I am a morning person and tend to arrive at school before the day starts for many people. If you want to contact me directly, or meet with me, I am usually in my classroom by 8:15 a.m., so that is the best time to call or to stop by.
