Jason P. Augustowski, M.Ed. (Mr. A.) is absolutely ecstatic to continue teaching at Riverside High School. This is his eleventh year with the county - previously teaching seventh grade language arts at Belmont Ridge Middle School. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2010 with a B.A. in Literature, Language and Culture and again in 2011 with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. He has spoken for the past nine years at the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) annual convention about topics spanning anti-bullying, authentic writing, meaningful technology integration, thorough poetry analysis, and changing the classroom paradigm. He now attends these conferences with RVHS alumni who are pursuing degrees in education.When not teaching, Mr. A. can be found directing musicals. He has directed thirteen musicals for Belmont Ridge Middle School, four for The Piedmont Arts Foundation, one for The Players on the Potomac and eight for his new company, Infinite Arts.Pushing students to new levels of success and self-awareness are Mr. A.'s top priorities. He guarantees a fun, safe, engaging, and authentic classroom environment where students WANT to come each day.
