Ms. Karen Tyrrell

Hi!  I'm the Digital Experience Specialist (DES) here at Belmont Ridge.  This is my 6th year here and my 15th year as a DES.  What does a DES do?  Well, I troubleshoot the computers, printers, copiers and Promethean boards, among other things.  I'm also the person to come to when your student Chromebook isn't working or is broken.  I really love helping the teachers use technology to teach; as well as helping students use technology to learn!

I have a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Duke University (Go Duke!) and was a computer programmer/analyst and systems tester for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom for my two children.  Now they are all grown up and I work full-time again.  I live with my husband in Lucketts, VA and enjoy music (the bluegrass at Lucketts is great!), growing giant pumpkins, traveling to historic places, and activities at my church.  Oh!  I collect pressed pennies from places all over where I and my friends have travelled.
