• Welcome Buffalo Trail Families!

    Dear Buffalo Trail families,

My name is Ginny Beers and I have the honor of being the Family Liaison for BTES. As your Family Liaison, I assist families and students at our school who may be experiencing difficulties during the school year. I have the ability to connect you to the various resources offered by LCPS, Loudoun County and the local community but I can’t help you unless you let me know.

Please take a few minutes to complete the BTES 2023-2024 Family Assistance Form so I may learn about your family and how we can work together to make your time at BTES wonderful.

Please understand this is not a guarantee of service. All requested assistance is at the discretion of the Principal at BTES and is based on availability of resources and supplies. In some cases, families must meet specific criteria to receive services. We will make every attempt to connect you with available school and community resources.

All information provided is strictly confidential and will only be shared with necessary staff at BTES.

If you feel more comfortable, please email me at ginny.beers@lcps.org

    See you on the Trail,

    Ginny

    What is a Family Liaison?

A Family Liaison is a person who works to bridge the communication between school and home by helping parents get the information, help and support they need to ensure their child's academic and social success in school. The primary role of Family Liaison is to empower parents to become active participants in the education of their children.

How can the Family Liaison help me?

Often, parents feel uncomfortable about sharing their questions or concerns with the teachers or school administration. Because good communication between home and school is such a vital part of your child's academic success, the Family Liaison will listen to your concerns and then work with you to make sure that your situation, question or point of view is expressed and understood. They will help and support you if you need to find ways to resolve any issues that may be hindering your child's success in school. Family Liaisons want to be sure that you understand what you can do to get involved, keep informed, share information, and help your child do his or her best.

    I can help:

    • Facilitate parent-school communication
    • Connect families to community agencies
    • Encourage parent involvement in school
    • Foster trust between parents and the educational community
    • Foster higher academic achievement through collaboration with school personnel

People who may find this resource useful are:

    • Parents who need help in determining how best to help their children
    • are infrequent participants in school activities
    • may need clarification of their role in the educational process
    • need assistance in making connections and accessing services.
