Ms. Kauren Nordstrom
Ms. Nordstrom is native to Loudoun County, where she grew up in Lovettsville and graduated from Loudoun Valley High School. She attended Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia where she majored in elementary education. Ms. Nordstrom played soccer for the Senators all four years. During Ms. Nordstrom's junior year playing for the Lady Senators, she competed in the WVIAC Conference Final. The first time in the school's history for a team to compete in a conference tournament since 1987!
Ms. Nordstrom returned to Loudoun County after graduating where she taught 5th grade at Pinebrook Elementary. It was during this first year of teaching that Ms. Nordstrom realized her true passion was teaching students with disabilities. She returned to school to receive her master's degree in special education from Shenandoah University. She was honored the 2013 Graduate Award for the School of Education and Human Development. She was chosen because of her outstanding commitment to her students with special learning needs and the families she serves as a special education teacher.
Ms. Nordstrom began her special education teaching career at Belmont Ridge Middle School in 2009. She has experience in the self-contained autism classrooms, co-teaching in 8th-grade science, 7th-grade US History, Algebra I, Personal Finance & Economics, and 6th-grade US History.
Ms. Nordstrom has a 4-year-old son named Owen who is full of life and energy! To help keep up with the endurance of a toddler, Ms. Nordstrom coaches cross country at Woodgrove High School. Mrs. Nordstrom has been teaching and coaching for 14 years. In her free time, she enjoys beach trips with her family, running, painting, and adventures with Owen.
