Mrs. Kirsten O'Hara

My name is Kirsten O'Hara and I am honored to be your principal at Legacy Elementary.  My husband and I live in Loudoun County and our son and daughter attend schools in Loudoun County.

My career in Loudoun County began at Farmwell Station Middle School teaching special education; then I moved to Sully Elementary where I taught second, third, and fifth grades.  I was the Assistant Principal at Round Hill Elementary for 15 years before moving to Legacy Elementary in 2019.

My educational background includes a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Longwood College, a Master's of Education from Marymount University and an Education Specialist degree in School Administration from the University of Virginia.

At Legacy, we are focused on building a strong foundation for our learners to prepare them for life long learning.  We build our students to be Contributors, Collaborators, Critical Thinkers, Creators, and Communicators. This year, our theme, #Legacy Unlocked, "We have the keys to success!" encompasses our goal for deeper learning.  Our teachers are committed to providing our students with a high quality learning experience focused on the individual needs of each child. We are striving to be creative and innovative in our instruction to engage students in their learning through a variety of hands on learning opportunities, personalized learning and engaging, high quality lessons.

One of the most important keys for success is the support our community provides to our staff and students.  Working together builds our students success each and every day.  Our success at Legacy is built on strong relationships with our staff, students and families.  We value our families and the support they give our school each and every day.  This year, Social Emotional Learning will be implemented at all grade levels.  At Legacy we are committed to providing a safe, equitable, inclusive and affirming environment for all students.

As our classrooms are once again filled with students, our students will be engaged in activities that inspire and challenge our students. It will be an exciting year and we look forward to having our students in our building each and every day.

Please don't hesitate to contact me either at (703) 957-4425 or kirsten.ohara@lcps.org.

Sincerely,

Kirsten O'Hara
