Ms. Jones teaches 6th grade self-contained English classes. She is also the SALT (department chair) for Special Education at Sterling Middle School. She graduated from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) with her Bachelors Degree (concentration in Education & Language Arts) in 2010. During her time at ETSU, she played for their Division 1 soccer team. After graduating, she worked with pre-school students at the age of 4 for a year. She then began working as a teaching assistant for a year in FCPS at a separate public day school (students with IEPs) for students in high school. During that year she decided to pursue her career as a teacher for the same high school as a Special Education teacher that taught reading. She began working on her Master's degree in Special Education. During her first year teaching, she received the Outstanding First Year Teacher Award for Fairfax County Public Schools in 2012-2013 school year. Ms. Jones finished her Master's Degree in 2015 and is Highly Qualified to teach English. This will be her 6th year working at Sterling Middle School. She is excited to work with all of her students and can't wait for a great school year!
