Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Carolyn Robblee

Welcome to the Belmont Ridge band family!

My name is Carolyn Robblee and I am the Director of Bands here at BEMS.  This is my 19th year of teaching and I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful community of students, teachers and parents.  Before coming to Belmont Ridge, I taught in a variety of settings: elementary general music and band, middle school band, high school band and guitar, as well as music education and clarinet at the university level.  I have lived and taught in Minnesota, Oregon, Washington and Illinois.  When my husband and I moved to Virginia from Chicago two summers ago, we decided that we are ready to settle down in one place!

I earned my Bachelor of Music degree at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN where I was a music education major.  At Washington State University in Pullman, WA, I earned my Master's degree in clarinet performance.  I have also done graduate work in clarinet performance at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.  As a music teacher, I feel it is important to always grow and learn so that I can be the best teacher for my students.  Because of that, I maintain an active performing schedule as a clarinet player.  In Chicago, I played in the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Evanston Symphony, and the Northshore Concert Band.

I teach 6th, 7th, 8th grade band as well as jazz band at Belmont Ridge.  I am excited to get to know each and every one of you and make some amazing music.  I have very high expectations of my students, and we always have a lot of fun!
