2019-2020 is Mrs. Irwin's sixth year teaching at Park View. Mrs. Irwin graduated from the University of Virginia and, prior to teaching had a successful career in finance and technology for 18 years. However, her passion for working with young people led her to go back to school to get her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University.
For the 2019-2020 school year, Mrs. Irwin is teaching Chemistry, Research Chemistry, and AP Chemistry.
Mrs. Irwin loves helping students learn about science. She encourages her students to seek extra help when they have questions. She is available for extra help before school on Tuesday and Thursday, and after school on Wednesdays. In addition, Mrs. Irwin is usually available on other days as long as advance arrangements are made.
When she is not teaching, Mrs. Irwin enjoys watching her daughters play basketball, taking care of her dogs, and traveling with her husband and family. This summer she travelled to France to see the Women's Soccer World Cup, and to Germany to explore Munich and Bavaria. Mrs. Irwin enjoys reading about science and non-science subjects. Her favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Her favorite books about science include Lab Girl by Hope Jahlren and The Double Helix by James Watson.
