• Professional Biography

     Maria Clemens     
                                         EL Teacher

    Ms. Clemens was born and grew up in Arlington, VA and currently resides in Ashburn. She earned a B.A. in English from James Madison University and a M.Ed. In Education and Curriculum with a concentration in Teaching English to Students with Other Languages from George Mason University. Ms. Clemens has provided academic and community support to students and families in Loudoun County Public Schools since 2008, and looks forward to working with students and families at THS. She is fluent in Spanish.

    This year, Ms. Clemens teaches  Advanced EL classes and supports students in English 11. All courses allow students to earn an English credit towards their diploma requirements. In these courses, students will read and analyze a wide variety of genres, produce writing that is clear, organized, and mechanically correct, continue to develop academic vocabulary, and  develop a thorough understanding of the research process. The courses are designed to provide growth in speaking, listening, reading , and writing. Ms. Clemens also supports students in Biology.
    Ms. Clemens  is available via email to answer any questions or concerns parents or students may have regarding this course or other matters. Assignments will be posted in Phoenix and students may access them through Student Vue.
