Mr. Martinez is the very proud principal of Sterling Middle School, a Title 1 school. He is focused on continuing the important work that teachers and students do at Sterling, and he is committed to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. Mr. Martinez grew up in Miami, Florida, where he began his teaching career as a High School English/ELL teacher. Mr. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education from Florida State University and a Master of Education degree from Johns Hopkins University. Throughout his last 25 years in education, Mr. Martinez has had the privilege of working at the K-12 levels in three diverse school districts. He has always focused on establishing and sustaining strong professional learning communities that promote student achievement through teacher collaboration and building capacity in teachers and administrators. Mr. Martinez’s goals are to continue building on the programs and high expectations that support students at Sterling and to continue building lasting relationships with the entire school community. Mr. Martinez is known for fostering a collaborative school culture that is based on trust and for encouraging innovative thinking so that students become self-directed learners and world-class citizens.
