I am thrilled to begin my 24th year as a teacher! This will be my fifth year on the 4th grade Moorefield Station team. My experience includes teaching grades 3, 4, and 5 in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, and also serving as a teacher and Differentiation Specialist for Wilmette District #39, in Illinois. I hold a Bachelor's degree in History from George Mason University and a Master's degree in Education, K-8, from Marymount University. Additionally, I have all of the required credits for a GT endorsement in Virginia. I completed the Smithsonian iWonder course from which I learned how to incorporate the scientific inquiry method into my daily instruction. I have extensive training in differentiation and project-based learning. Parents and students will find me continually adding to my skill set and sharing my passion for learning in the classroom, as I am a lifelong learner.
My husband, 5 year old son, Drake, and I live in Leesburg's historic district. Our family, which also includes a quirky Shetland Sheepdog named Patty, enjoys spending our free time traveling, reading, listening to music and being outdoors.
Fourth grade is an exciting year of growth and learning for children. I will strive to provide your student with a solid academic foundation as he/she prepares for the leap to fifth grade. My expectations will be high, and I will challenge students to exceed standards; however, my approach will be a differentiated one that meets the needs of the individual child in a positive, caring learning environment. I am looking forward to guiding students on this important journey as we study the solar system, great literature, all about our state, and more.
I can't wait to start working with all of you Moorefield Station Sharks. We're going to have a fantastic 2018-19 together!
