Mrs. Brianne Foster
Hello and good day to you all!
I am back for another exciting year at Trailside. This year will mark my 7th year with LCPS and Trailside. My role in the counseling department will continue to focus primarily on providing support and assistance to students and their families. I have a BSW (Bachelors Degree in Social Work) from George Mason University. With my BSW, I worked in the community providing case management supports to different at risk populations, including intensive foster care youth, and QMHP (qualified mental health professional) for at risk youth and adults, and then ID (intellectual disabilities) Waiver Services with the CSB (Community Services Board). In 2009, I completed my master's degree in School Counseling from Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES!!! And in 2014 I said "Yes!" to my dream job...being a school counselor at Trailside Middle School. As a Professional School Counselor I attempt to meet students where they are at and assisting them to realize his or her own uniqueness, potential, and passion as they plan for the future or toward achieving personal goals.
My early years were formed under the umbrella of being an "Army Brat", for those of you not "in the know," that means my father was an active duty service member. As a nomad military family, I actually found a fondness for traveling. I have lived in a variety of locals, including Germany, Panama, and most recently in Bahrain (a small island off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia). In fact, I love seeing and experiencing new people and cultures; but as they say..."there's no place like home." And I live by that saying. When I get time off from work, most often that time is spent going to Indiana to visit with my, now retired, father. He lives in his hometown where he grew up. My entire extended family lives in Indiana, so you could say that part of my heart resides there too. My husband and I chose to make Loudoun County our home back in 2006. We enjoy all that this area has to provide with regard to entertainment and culture while also having all the things you could want pretty much at your fingertips. I have two school aged girls who also attend school in Loudoun County. My oldest daughter is entering 6th grade while my youngest is entering 3rd grade.
My family and I love a good tabletop game such as Exploding Kittens, Unstable Unicorns, Lama's Unleashed, Ticket to Ride, Dice Throne and so on, I could keep going but you get the idea. At TMS I also support the TableTop Gaming Club during our seasonal activities. It's a club that supports students in exploring boardgames, card games, and even role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons. In my spare time, when I am not throwing the dice or laying down my cards, I am a very creative individual. I enjoy baking in my kitchen, crocheting with my kids, or even relaxing while coloring some peaceful mandalas. But, more than anything, I love spending time with my family and friends.
I look forward to working with everyone this upcoming school year. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns about this school year. My office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can schedule an appointment with me by going to my calendar and clicking on the time that works best for you or if you would like you can reach out by phone at 571-440-2530 ext. 60402. Let's work together to make this the most successful school year yet.
" As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has - or ever will have - something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."
