Greetings Trailside Family!
I am very eager to start another amazing year here at Trailside! Where this year may look a little different, I am bringing the same excitement and enthusiasm this year as I would any other year!
I was very fortunate to have begun my teaching career here at Trailside in the 2014-2015 school year. Going into my 7th year of teaching, I am extremely excited to build new relationships with the upcoming 8th graders! If there is one thing that I LOVE about teaching it is building positive relationships with students and embracing all the unique personalities, passions and interests each student brings to the classroom.
A little bit about me: I am a Pennsylvania native, from York, PA. I hold West Virginia close to my heart with being a graduate of West Virginia University, LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS! I have received a Bachelor's degree in Biology and General Science and a Master's degree in Secondary Education. I have had teaching experiences with 10th grade students, 8th grade students, and 6th grade students, covering a wide variety of science content.
As an 8th grade science teacher, I look to provide students with memorable and meaningful learning experiences. Within my classroom, students will be immersed in hands-on activities, technology applications, labs, personalized learning, project based learning and most importantly, be a part of a fun, safe learning environment. 8th grade science helps students to build inquiry, critical thinking and collaboration skills. I am an advocate for pushing learners to their full potential, instilling values of growth mindsets and building positive student-teacher relationships. I truly believe that building student-teacher relationships is of importance for student success and achievements in the classroom.
Aside from being a teacher, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I LOVE the beach and all places sunny and warm. I am happily married to my wonderful husband and I am a mother to an 80 lb rescue dog who goes by the name of Moose. My husband is a teacher at Musselman High School (Inwood, WV), as well as a football coach for Musselman High. I enjoy cheering on the sidelines and watching him coach.
The past 6 years at Trailside have been nothing but amazing, leaving me with many memories and connections with former students. I hope to make the 2020-2021 school year just as memorable and I can't wait to see what memories and experiences this year brings!
