I had the pleasure of joining the Trailside staff the first year it opened and am excited to embark on another year. I believe the most meaningful learning happens when students are actively involved in the process. It is important to me that they enjoy their time at school while seeing the real-world importance of what they are taught. I look forward to exploring the connections between literature, my students’ life experiences, and the world.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, I attended the University at Albany where I earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in English and secondary education and then a Master of Science degree in reading. My dual certification as a secondary English teacher and reading specialist as helped me to meet the needs of all students. As a reading specialist, I have worked with at-risk teens at the high school level, self-contained English for special education middle school students, and elementary students in need of reading interventions. I have also worked for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland where I taught their regular education and GT (Gifted and Talented) English curriculum in sixth grade.
Calendar items and assignments will be posted to Google Classroom.
