I am so happy to be coming back for my eighth year at Trailside.  I began as an Instructional Assistant for my first 2 years, and then became a Resource Teacher for grades 6 and 7. This year I am a Resource Teacher for 8th grade. I have lived in Ashburn for 17 years with my husband and four children. I have one son at Penn State and 3 children who have graduated, one from JMU and one from UVA and another from Penn State.

Before becoming a stay-at-home-mom, I worked for Mobil Oil Corp. and Sears Corp. in marketing and financial analysis roles. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from University of Delaware. My favorite things to do include gardening, exercising outdoors, and going to the beach, especially Cape Cod! I am really looking forward to another great year with the students and staff at Trailside!

It is my great pleasure to be an instructional assistant at Trailside Middle School. I previously taught at Smart’s Mill Middle School for over eight years as an ELL teacher assistant. Teaching and helping children is my passion and I’m excited to be a part of opening a new school.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, specializing in child psychology, from George Mason University. I speak fluent Spanish and some French. The majority of my experience is in teaching math and science to middle school age children. I look forward to sharing my talents and experience with your children at our new school.

I’m so excited to begin my third year at Trailside. I look forward to sharing my passion for learning with 6th graders in English and History this year.

My husband and I have two children who are 21 and 18 years  old. They attend JMU and Riverside High School. As a family we enjoy hikes, beach trips, and amusement parks. The bigger the roller coaster the better! My daughter and husband are the thrill-seekers, and they always challenge me to be brave. I have tried countless new things with them.

I can’t wait to work with you and encourage you to try new things. I will challenge you to be brave and follow your dreams!

Mrs. Kate Vaccaro

My name is Kate Vaccaro and I am thrilled to be starting my third year on the Instructional/Resource team as a Resource Teacher Assistant for 8th grade.

I grew up in Northern Virginia and love and appreciate all that this area has to offer. I’ve lived in Ashburn the last 16+ years with my husband and our two children. Samantha is an up-and-coming 10th grader at Stone Bridge; our son Johnny is an incoming 8th grader at Trailside.

As a family we love to do anything we can together. We golf, go to concerts and theatre, vacation on the beach, attend baseball games, and visit family in both Wilmington, NC and Cape Cod, Mass.

After retiring from my “stay at home mom” job that I cherished, I started part time with LCPS at the elementary level. Before joining the Timberwolves,  I was at Sanders Corner Elementary for 4 years and loved every minute of it. I’ve realized as both a parent and professionally that working with kids is what I truly love.

I am excited to be part of the Trailside team and I can’t wait to support your students!!

I am excited to begin another year at Trailside Middle School this year! This will mark my 5th year with Loudoun County Public Schools, and what a great place to be! I am a Special Education Instructional Assistant and feel very privileged to be able to work with so many wonderful and inspiring children every day.

Before working at LCPS I was previously in the banking industry for 18 years. My family and I have lived in Northern Virginia for over 10 years now and coming from the west coast, I am happy to be able to enjoy all 4 seasons on this side of the country. When not working I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking and especially spending time at the beach. I am an avid reader and enjoy volunteering at the local library. I look forward to another fantastic journey at Trailside. I am very proud to be a Timberwolf!
