Mrs. Dawn Bernett

I am excited to be starting my seventh year in HPE at Trailside Middle School!

I am a mid-western girl at heart as I grew up a few blocks from Lake Michigan in both the Milwaukee and Chicago areas. I began my career in education after graduating from Purdue University with degrees in Math and Physical Education with an emphasis in athletic training. I taught high school math in New Jersey for 5 years before moving to Virginia and staying home to see our 4 awesome children graduate from St. Theresa School in Ashburn and Heritage High School. I was fortunate to be able to help open Stone Hill Middle School and Trailside Middle school! I taught both math and HPE at Stone Hill and loved both for very different reasons! I love sports, have participated in them at the collegiate and elite levels and coached for many years ! I highly encourage kids to involve themselves in many different physical activities so they grow to be multi-dimensional! I look forward to helping all my students advance their fitness and understand the importance of staying active throughout their lives.
