Mr. Don Rahn

Hello, Timber Wolves! My name is Don Rahn and I look forward to another year in sixth grade science. I have taught for 27 years in Loudoun County, and I am excited to start my ninth year at Trailside. I attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania for my undergraduate classes, and I received my Master's Degree from George Mason University in Instructional Technology.

There is a lot that I enjoy about being a teacher, but what I value the most is there is always something new to learn and share with my students and fellow teachers.  Education is always changing and I am always on the lookout for the latest book, the next innovative technology, and engaging activities.

My family and I live in Purcellville, Virginia.  My wife is also a school teacher in LCPS and during our summers, we like to travel with our two daughters, who will be a junior at George Mason University and a senior at the University of Mary Washington. Our favorite place to go is the area around Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We have also been to Hawaii, Alaska, Belize, and Barcelona, Spain.  I like to spend my free time hiking with my dog Sonny, taking pictures of the outdoors, reading good books, and still finding some time for video games.

I am looking forward to the start of the next school year with the Trailside community and I will see you in the science lab!
