• When is the library open?

The library is normally open from 7:30 - 2:30 Monday through Friday.  All classes are scheduled for one day per week for 30 minute lesson and additional check-out time. The library is available all day for individual student checkout and small group work.

The library is open when class is happening.

How many books can I have? For how long?

Students check out a set number of books each week. This number will increase around January as they learn to use the library and resources responsibly. When a student has a class project, additional library books can be checked out as needed. Students are always welcome to come down to the library during the school day, with their teachers' permission to check out new books. Library books should be returned or renewed at each library class. Students must remember to return library books before additional library books can be checked out - we want to make sure that students have a chance to share the books, especially the popular ones.

Book policies for each grade level

Share the resources - only take out what you need, return when finished, and enjoy what you read!

We limit students to three books at a time for two weeks; however, they may come to the library frequently to switch out books. We do this because we want to make sure the books are circulating as much as possible and waits are short.

Books may be renewed, so long as no other student has a hold on the book, but the student must have the book with them for renewal. If students have multiple books that are overdue, nothing else can be checked out until those items are returned. Students may check out up to three e-books at a time for a period of two weeks. If there are any issues with e-book check out, please let us know as soon as possible.

What happens if I damage a book or lose it?

It is the responsibility of the borrower to return or renew items by the due date. While we do not charge fines for overdue books, borrowers must pay for any items that have been lost or damaged beyond use. If any lost item is found and returned in usable condition within the current school yearand has not yet been replaced, a check will be sent to the student's home. Lost items paid for through our online payment system are non-refundable; if the book if found at a later date, the book is yours to do with as you so choose.

To find out the amount due for a lost/damaged book, please see the library staff. Patrons may pay with a check (made out to Cardinal Ridge Elementary School), cash, or our online payment system - which is non-refundable (select online school payments from the main school page). Please note, that we cannot make change - so if paying by cash, please bring in the exact amount due.

      Can I donate?

      We are grateful for donations!

We accept new and gently used books, and we'll make sure they find a home. We also accept some furniture and craft items; please email us to confirm. And if you're feeling especially generous, here's our Amazon Wishlist.
