Ms. Rice has been teaching EL in Loudoun County since 2000. Before coming to Algonkian full-time, she taught at Farmwell Station Middle School. She has been at Algonkian since 2014. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in German from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University, and a Master of German, English, and Spanish Linguistics from Saarland University. She taught EFL to adults in Germany before moving to Virginia. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Rice served as a contracting officer in the US Air Force for seven years. She is currently teaching writing skills to English language learners at Northern Virginia Community College. During the summer she volunteers Shenandoah Valley Music Festival in Orkney Springs and Wolftrap National Park for the Performing Arts. Ms. Rice has begun to play disc golf and even though she's still learning, she competes in several tournaments throughout the year and doesn't let finishing last stop her from enjoying the sport! She is a member of the LoCo Disc Golf , NOVA Women's Disc Golf Club, and NOVA Disc Golf Association. She is on Algonkian's GRRRReen Team and has a butterfly garden/monarch way station/ wildlife sanctuary at home.
