Welcome to US History 6!

Welcome 6th graders, parents, and guardians!  My name is Jocelyn Smith and I am excited to be teaching sixth grade US History this year.   I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know your 6th graders.
As a product of LCPS, I attended Catoctin ES, Hamilton ES, Blue Ridge Middle, and Loudoun Valley High School. From Valley I headed to Fredericksburg to the University of Mary Washington, graduating in 1986.  I came to ERMS from J.L.Simpson Middle School in Leesburg after enjoying life as a stay-at-home mom for fourteen years.  I've been happily married to Reeves for over 30 years and we have two amazing children, Degnan, 27, a musician, and Paris, 23, who is working on the west coast.  We share our home with our three rescue cats,  one rescue dogs, and a goldfish.

    laptop  Technology

This year, Eagle Ridge begins 1:1 devices!  Please encourage your student to bring their device fully charged to school each day.  Our class is one of blended learning, using traditional methods as well as incorporating technology to experience the best of both worlds.   We'll use Google Classroom, the online textbook, Newsela, BrainPOP, Quizlet, and more!

I'm looking forward to working with you and your child this year! Please email me jocelyn.smith@lcps.org with any questions, comments, or concerns and I will respond within 24 hours or less.  Let's work together to make SY19-20 the best year ever!
Before you go, please check out our class supply list and class wishlist links on this website.  Your generous contributions are appreciated.
