    Mrs. O'Shaughnessy and Miss Benteler are very excited to team up and co-teach Kindergarten this school year!  We are lucky to be joined my Mrs. McLoughlin and Mrs. Middleton this year!  
    It is our goal to create a comfortable, fun, and safe learning environment to allow your Kindergartener to transition into school.

    Mrs. O'Shaughnessy has a passion for teaching early childhood students.  She began teaching in Loudoun County as Early Childhood Special Education in 2010.  Prior to 2010, Mrs. O'Shaughnessy lived in Christiansburg, VA. and taught a first and second grade combo class in a public Montessori school in Roanoke, Va. for 7 years.  She graduated from Radford University with a double certification in Early Childhood Special Education and Early Childhood Education.  Mrs. O'Shaughnessy completed her Masters degree in Early Childhood Education in 2015.  She is also a proud alumni of Loudoun County Public Schools, graduating from Broad Run High School.

    Mrs. O'Shaughnessy lives in Ashburn with her husband and 2 children.  She loves being active and outdoors with her family in her spare time.  Her family vacations are centered around camping and exploring new campgrounds.  Mrs. O'Shaughnessy is also a huge sports fan and can often be found watching the Washington Capitals, Washington Redskins or Baltimore Orioles!

    Miss. Benteler is so excited to be at Discovery again this year! Miss. Benteler is a product of Loudoun County, as she grew up in Ashburn and graduated from Briar Woods High School. After graduating from Briar Woods Miss. Benteler attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Disability Services and Special Education. She previously served as a teacher at Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf, in Pittsburgh PA, as well as a cross-categorical and emotional disabilities teacher in Loudoun County. She enjoys walking her dog; Heidi, who is a 70 pound Labordoodle, watching Pittsburgh sports, and spending time with her family.
