Dr. Nunes was born and grew up in Solingen, Germany. In 2001, she moved to the United States. She had previously been an exchange student in the US.
Dr. Nunes graduated with her doctorate degree in Educational and Administrative Leadership from Shenandoah University in 2021. She completed her Master's degree from the University of Utah in 2007. Her Master's degree is in Languages and Literature. She double-majored in English and German for her undergraduate studies.
Dr. Nunes's dissertation is copyrighted and a copy is available at the U.S. Library of Congress.
Dr. Nunes taught German at the University of Utah for two years and then taught German at Salt Lake Community College for a couple of semesters before moving to Virginia.
In Virginia, she taught at Northern Virginia Community College and started teaching at a High School for Prince William County Public Schools.
After four years with Prince William County, Dr. Nunes made the move to Loudoun County Public Schools. She worked at a middle school for eight years before transitioning to Loudoun County High School. Dr. Nunes is also an Associate Professor for German at NVCC. On Saturdays, she sometimes subs at a private German school in Maryland.
Dr. Nunes has three daughters who are also learning German.
