Mrs. Blood

I am thrilled to be returning to Tolbert again this year! This will be my twelfth year in education and third year at Tolbert. I also taught in Ashburn, VA for five years and Fairfax County Public Schools for four years.

I take an eclectic approach to music education. The use of Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze applications creates varied and enjoyable learning experiences for all students in the music classroom. I also value the impact music has on the whole student and create intentional integrated educational experiences for students. With a focus on social emotional learning and positive behavior interventions, I strive to create a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.

I am a classically trained pianist and vocalist. I studied classical piano privately for 14 years and have over 20 years of choral experience. Highlighted performance experiences include choral performances at the Strathmore Theatre in Bethesda, MD, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and a ten-day tour in France and piano performances at the National Shrine in Washington D.C., the Finnish Embassy in Washington D.C, and the Loudoun County Public Schools Elementary All County Chorus Festival. In addition to my experience in the public schools, I have also taught piano and voice privately and have worked with children's theater programs.
