Silliman, Michael (Social Studies)

Bio

Hello and welcome to World History!  My name is Michael Silliman and I have been instructing Social Science for 11 years here in the State of Virginia.  This will be my 7th year at Briar Woods and with the World History courses.  Before teaching World History, I taught Civics and Economics in Culpeper, VA.  I have a Bachelors Degree of the Arts and majored in History and Political Science. The good old University of Pittsburgh is where I attended both undergrad and graduate school.  Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a political campaign manager in the State of Pennsylvania, as well as a retail manager.  In the past I have coached High School Football and Lacrosse in both Virginia and Pennsylvania, and I grew up playing both sports in Maryland.  I have been married to the beautiful Jessica Silliman for the last 15 years and we have three amazing kids – Connor Michael Silliman (13 years old), Liam Patrick Silliman (almost 8 years old) and Victoria Leigh Silliman (5 years old).
