I’ve been a resident of western Loudoun for five years and couldn’t be happier. Although I often miss Roanoke, where I lived and worked for 25 years, residing in rural Lovettsville allows me to regularly pursue my outdoor passions, such as trail running, hiking, riding a jet ski, or hanging out in horse barns with some treats.

At home, I enjoy reading and playing guitar, activities that truly relax me. I also am a firm believer in life-long learning. I possess a master’s degree from Hollins University, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Educational Supervision from Shenandoah University. At the University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, I experienced first-hand the critically important relationships between schools and communities, which remains a passion of mine.

Because of my abiding love for in-depth conversations about American history, the Constitution, and the special role America plays in global affairs, my students and colleagues often say I’m a “true patriot,” a label I wear proudly. I’ve also sponsored student-led model United Nations competitions, as well as the Stock Market Game sponsored by the Economic Council of Virginia. I strive to instill these diverse interests in students and inspired the creation of student high school clubs to discuss current events and organize community service activities. This year two of my students from Eagle Ridge were awarded the high honor of serving as Senate Pages for the Virginia General Assembly.

I’ve spent much of my life dedicated to my country and community, including serving the nation as an airman in the United States Navy, worked as a domestic engineer, and served as a teacher for the last 18 years. I enjoy helping others and as a teacher I’m always pushing students to explore the power, knowledge, and personal satisfaction that comes from a life-time of service to others.
